This is an original antique architectural trade catalog on the Sciotoville Bridge issued by the McClintic-Marshall Company, the company that built this bridge over the Ohio River. This catalog is 32 pages plus the decorative covers with cord binding measuring about 10.75” x 8.5” and is illustrated throughout with photos and some drawings at the end. The title page reads: SCIOTOVILLE BRIDGE Over the Ohio River at Sciotoville, hio for The Chesapeake & Ohio Northern Railway Company – Steel Structure Manufactured And Erected By McClintic-Marshall Company – Paul L. Wolfel, Chief Engineer, Elbert A. Gibbs, Manager of Erection – Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania I don’t find a publication date on this catalog but it is an antique original issued around the time the bridge construction was completed in 1916 or when it opened in 1917. This catalog basically tells the story of constructing this bridge which was designed by Gustav Lindenthal, who also designed the Hellgate and Queensboro Bridges in New York City among many others. The Sciotoville Bridge was considered an engineering marvel holding the record for longest continuous truss span bridge in the world from its opening in 1917 until 1945. Worldcat only locates three copies of this rare trade catalog on one of the most impressive bridges in American history.
